Special analytics - analytics outside the routine

By the term special analytics, we primarily mean individual case analyses, such as those that occur on a daily basis in the research and development departments of many companies.

However, it can also mean that an unknown substance or material (case of damage) is to be analyzed or a substance is to be tested for its identity (REACH).

Last but not least, this area also includes the development or adaptation of analytical methods, for example for new routine tests.

No matter what special or individual analytical problem is involved, we look forward to your inquiry and will be happy to advise you on which analyses are possible. Your success is our motivation.

We are your experts in special analytics

Our services

Accompanying analytics for research and development

For example, do you want confirmation of your target molecule by NMR? Or are you interested in whether a process change alters the granulometry of your product and would like to validate this by determining the particle size distribution? Or are there indications that the distribution of an additive in your finished product (e.g. a polymer) is not homogeneous?

In these and other cases, we can provide you with the information you need to move your product forward with our broad spectrum of analyses.

Method development

You know what you want to analyze and how, but you lack the capacities to develop and establish a corresponding analysis method? Or you have already developed a method, but now need an external partner with the appropriate capacities to apply it routinely?

Whether method development or adaptation, we are happy to support you with our broad analysis portfolio and expertise. Together we ensure your success!

Special analytics - REACH

All manufacturers or importers of chemicals in the EU are obliged to evaluate the chemical substances concerned and register them with ECHA. In this context, it must be ensured that the substance on hand actually corresponds to the expected substance, defined by CAS, EC number and structure/sum formula.

With the help of our numerous analytical techniques, we can provide you with the data you need to confirm the identity of a substance beyond doubt. For purely organic substances, these methods include:

  • 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy
  • IR spectroscopy & and UV/VIS spectroscopy
  • GC mass spectrometry
  • HPLC mass spectrometry
  • Purity by GC or HPLC
  • Water determination and annealing residue

We also have numerous analytical methods (ICP, XRF, XRD, wet chemical methods, etc.) for inorganic substances.

Identification of unknown substances

Unexpected particles in a raw material? Deposits in a production plant? Unknown substances? Contaminations in a product?

We are happy to support you in these and other cases with our analyses and clarify the identity of unknown substances / materials or contaminants so that you can get one step closer to their origin.

We can examine the smallest particles, for example, using a scanning electron microscope with EDX detector or an ATR infrared microscope. Larger sample quantities we first analyze by means of semi-quantitative X-ray fluorescence (XRF) and, if necessary, a CHN and carbonate analysis. Depending on the substance class (organic or inorganic), more detailed analyses then follow.
